Cartoonist Of The Year is a WACICO & The Double T Ted's® Cartoon Competition that we run yearly and that began with the year ending 2011 and beginning 2012. The winner of the first "WACICO Cartoonist of The Year" title is Simon Goodway for TwitTed The Twit Ted. The following is an explanation of how Cartoonist Simon won the 2011 20122 WACICO Cartoonist of the Year Title.Simon was given the brief to produce a blue coloured teddy bear similar to the colour of the Twtiter Bird used by Twitter. The teddy was to wear a yellow suit similar in colour to the Tweety bird that everyone knows and loves that is owned by Warner Bros.
The teddy bear was to look like a traditional teddy bear so that he could be made as a stuffed toy as well as be a cartoon teddy bear character. The first teddy bear seemed a little bright when completed so we toned down the blue and made TwitTed a little darker. The result can be seen in the cartoons strips and as the single character on this site and other WACICO and Double T Ted's sites.
Now at the time there was also another cartoonist working on other Double T Ted's characters and when he came through with them the eyes of the Double T Ted's took on a decidly different direction.
This being said we left the original eyes on the first strips to show how TwitTed The Twit Ted began, which was to the original brief given to the Cartoonist of Year 2011 2012 Simon by the Double T Ted's creator Keith D. You will see he had dark eyes with no white and the updated version now has white eyes.The winning of the cartoonist of the year 2011 2012 for Twit Ted was voted by Elenaor Mains aged 5. Eleanor is the daughter of WACICO and The Double T Ted's creator and for weeks leadong up to Christmas 2011 Eleanor kept on saying her favourite Double T Ted's teddy bear was Twit Ted The Twit Ted.
So Simon wins on the crieria that it was voted by WACICO member 2 who is five and that TwitTed is thus far the "Most Appealing Double T Ted's Cartoon Tedy Bear for young children". This of course has made us all think a little on the use of colours for the Douuble T Ted's, as although it had always been the intention to produce them in a wide range of colours traditional teddy bear colours and the sort of colours used in traditional stuffed toys, other then the baby blues and pinks for young children, we're being concentrated on (still are to some extent), but we also now intend to introduce more brighter Double T Ted's than we had originally intended steering away from the traditonal browns and bieges a little more in order to please younger children.
